FlyBall
Happy Hounds have recently also taken up Flyball.
Flyball is a fast and exciting event where a team of four dogs take turns in a relay type race against an opposing team down a identical straight courses of four hurdles to catch a ball from the box and return without dropping the ball and in the fastest time. A team normally comprises four dogs and handlers plus two reserves and a ball-loader for the box.
We do it as a form of
exercise and just for fun although we have officially registered teams with the
British Flyball Association (BFA). We are always looking for new members to
train with and even compete. In May
2011 two members were the first to compete in an event by joining with Active8
and helping the team to fifth place in a starters event.
We train indoors on rubber matting and use the super Peter Cave box and our starter training box. Occasionally we also take the boxes and safety barrier nets to the nearby New Hall Country Park to practice on grass in the sunshine.
