FlyBall

Happy Hounds also train flyball for fun as well as to compete in national competitions.
Flyball is a fast and exciting event where a team of four dogs take turns in a relay type race against an opposing team down a identical straight courses of four hurdles to catch a ball from the box and return without dropping the ball and in the fastest time. A team normally comprises four dogs and handlers plus two reserves and a ball-loader for the box.

We do it as a form of exercise mainly for fun although we have officially registered teams with the British Flyball Association (BFA). We are always looking for new members to train with and even compete. In May 2011 two members were the first to compete in an event by joining another club in a starters event. In 2013 we had our first starters team and our first win.  Since then we have competed in many local competitions and the national Championships at Catton Hall

We prefer to train outdoors but in bad weather and winter we train indoors on rubber matting. When outdoors we take the boxes and safety barrier nets to the nearby Rectory Park, where we have authorisation from the Council to practice on grass in the sunshine.

See our open team in practice in Rectory Park on YouTube here

and our starters team here. Both videos approx 30 secs.
